Sex Establishment DRAFT policy
Rochdale Council adopted schedule 3 of the Local Government
(miscellaneous provisions) Act 1982 in December 1989, so that we
could licence Sex Shops and Sex Cinemas.
The introduction of Section 27 of the Policing and Crime Act
2009 has amended the above legislation so that Local Authorities
can licence Sexual Entertainment Venues. To exercise these powers
Councils must also adopt these provisions.
This document sets out Rochdale Council’s proposed draft policy
regarding the regulation of sex establishments and the procedure
relating to applications for sex establishment licences.
The policy will be consulted upon between week commencing the
6th December 2010 to 21st February 2011.
