Complaint - councillors
Any person can make a complaint that a councillor or co-opted
member has breached the Code of Conduct. From 8 May
2008, our Standards Committee were given the responsibility
for considering, any complaints that a Rochdale councillor or
co-opted member may have breached the Code of Conduct.
Instead of complaints being sent to the National Standards Board
for England, complaints can now be made to our local Standards
Committee.
The Assessment Sub-Committee can only deal with complaints about
the behaviour of a councillor. It will not deal with complaints
about things that are not covered by the Members’ Code of Conduct.
If you make a complaint to the Assessment Sub-Committee it must be
about why you think a member has not followed the Code of
Conduct.
How to complain against a councillor
Complaints can be made to our Monitoring Officer by filling out
a complaint form. View the guidance notes if you want to know more
about the complaints procedure.
Download the form or contact our Committee Services for a
printed copy of the form on 01706 924704.

does not fall under the Code of Conduct, you'll need to use our
corporate complaints procedure.
